Botox and forehead lines
Hi – Dr Raymond Lister here.
I have to say that I find Botox most impressive in the upper face – and particularly for forehead lines. However wrinkles on the forehead, or forehead lines, are not without their challenges.

A smooth botox forehead
One of the major problems here is that the muscle that we are treating, (called the Frontalis muscle) is rather important in holding the eyebrows up!
S0 – although we DO want to weaken the Frontalis, we also want to preserve the part that holds the eyebrows up – An eyebrow droop is not an attractive sight, and there is not much that can be done for it, other than wait the 3-4 months for the Botox to wear off. There is one very important place where your physician should NOT be injecting you and that is Read the rest of this entry »
Botox for jowls

Nefertiti - A perfect jaw line!
Botox for jowls – Can Botox help improve jowls? Is Botox OK for jowls? Now this is a great new use of Botox. I am sure that you know where your jowls are, and if you have them you are probably rather resigned to them. Botox can help here. It quite simply changes the balance of the muscular struggle on the jaw line.

Will Botox help on jowls?
Botox weakens those muscles that drag the skin downwards towards the neck, and thus comparitively strengthens the upward pulling muscles. It is not a miracle, but it can have quite a marked effect at restoring a youthful jawline.
Not all Botox physicians know how to do this procedure, so you need to ask for: Read the rest of this entry »
Botox and eyes
Botox can be wonderful for eyes – helping the muscles around the eyes to be far less wrinkled and lined. But there are dangers also.
Your eyes are THE most problematic area when receiving Botox. It is essential that you ensure that your physician doesn’t go too near your
Botox eyebrow lift
Hi – Dr Raymond Lister here.
Botox , in skilled hands, can actually elevate a drooping brow. This is quite a common finding in men who have heavier brows, and som judiciously placed Botox just under the lateral eyebrow can be very effective.

This brow is drooping
But, one of the real challenges with Botox is getting the shape of the eyebrow correct. Too much and the brow droops – too little and there is no effect – wrongly placed and you end up looking like Mr Spock, or even worse with an eyelid droop. You really need to be careful with Read the rest of this entry »
Botox for sweating
Botox is fantasticly effective for underarm sweating (hyperhydrosis) and sweaty armpits.

Botox for sweating - very effective
There are very few complications here. Check out the hyperhydrosis page on this site where I try to tell you exactly what you can expect and how your underarm sweating can be 80-100% resolved. Whilst this is possibly one of the best and most effective uses of Botox you need to aware of its limitations: Read the rest of this entry »
Botox for lips
Hi – Dr Raymond Lister here.
Botox doesn’t have a huge place in the lips. This is mainly the region for fillers.
However, Botox can be very useful in tiny doses around the lips to soften and weaken the transverse lines that smokers so often get. This is because the lips are surrounded by a muscle called Obicularis Oris, and when this contracts, the lips crinkle.

Lip lines - the result of repeated puckering
If you keep crinkling the lips (smokers!) you shouldn’t be surprised to find that you are getting lots of lines that make your lipstick bleed.
You can sort this with a few Botox injections, but you need to very careful since Read the rest of this entry »
Botox for migraines
Hi – Dr Raymond Lister here.
A relatively grey area for Botox is in the treatment of migraines. We know that muscular tension is important in the causation of headaches, and we know that Botox interferes with muscular activity, but it seems that the Botox is possibly also interfering with the transmission in nerve pain fibres.

Botox can help some migraines
The results are reasonably impressive. if you would like to know more, you can read a fuller account by clicking here.
There are however some dangers associated with Botox that you should be aware of and Read the rest of this entry »
Botox injections
Hi – Dr Raymond Lister here.
I have been injecting Botox for many years and have seen all sides of the ‘Botox Industry’.
In the right hands Botox injections will make a huge difference to your lines and wrinkles.
In the wrong hands, you will wish you had kept well away! You need to be empowered to make the right decisions – to see the right physician, to select the correct treatment, to pay the correct cost, and to ask for additional treatments that othere smay not have even heard of. It is essential that you are well informed and be a responsible and empowered patient. Find out more here.
