Drugs and Botox

Drugs to avoid in conjunction with Botox

Aspirin, Nonsteroidal antiInflamatory drugs and Vitamin E can all make bruising more likely

Any drug that interferes with neuromuscular activity should be avoided with Botox. This includes AminoGlycoside antibiotics, curare, lincosamides, polymixin antibiotics, quinidine, magnesium sulphate, anticholinesterases and succinylcholine. This is obviously up to a good physician to check with you.

Botox and pregnancy

I am often asked ‘Is Botox safe during pregnancy?’ The easy and clear answer is – No!

Whilst it is highly unlikely to cause problems, it would be absolutely unforgiveable if there were any unfortunate consequences. No manufacturer would condone use in pregnancy – it’s just not worth it. So best to look at all the alternatives that will help you to look your best.

Botox and forehead lines

Hi – Dr Raymond Lister here.

I have to say that I find Botox most impressive in the upper face – and particularly for forehead lines. However wrinkles on the forehead, or forehead lines, are not without their challenges.

A smooth botox forehead

One of the major problems here is that the muscle that we are treating, (called the Frontalis muscle) is rather important in holding the eyebrows up!

S0 – although we DO want to weaken the Frontalis, we also want to preserve the part that holds the eyebrows up – An eyebrow droop is not an attractive sight, and there is not much that can be done for it, other than wait the 3-4 months for the Botox to wear off.  There is one very important place where your physician should NOT be injecting you and that is Read the rest of this entry »

You will of course know that the search to cure wrinkles has occupied men and women for milenia.

Creams and potions have existed since history has been recorded.

A life time of wrinkling the skin

There are, quite simply four main ingredients:

1.Avoidance of Sun and smoke

3. Good genetics

4. Avoidance of muscular contracture

… and this latter is where Botox is so effective. But there are dangers, and you need to be fully aware of Read the rest of this entry »

Botox for jowls

Nefertiti - A perfect jaw line!

Botox for jowls – Can Botox help improve jowls? Is Botox OK for jowls?

Now this is a great new use of Botox.  I am sure that you know where your jowls are, and if you have them you are probably rather resigned to them. Botox can help here. It quite simply changes the balance of the muscular struggle on the jaw line.

Will Botox help on jowls?

Botox weakens those muscles that drag the skin downwards towards the neck, and thus comparitively strengthens the upward pulling muscles. It is not a miracle, but it can have quite a marked effect at restoring a youthful jawline.

Not all Botox physicians know how to do this procedure, so you need to ask for: Read the rest of this entry »

Botox for men

Botox is equally effective for men. I see many men who find they are frowning too much, and it is giving them an angry appearance. It sometimes mean they dont do well at job interviews, or dont get the contract they were seeking.

Men have bigger muscles than women (and tougher skin!) and therefore usually need a higher dose. Most physicians charge extra for men because they quite simply need a higher dose of  Botox.

It is definitely worth asking your physician, before treatment, whether Read the rest of this entry »

Botox and eyes

Botox can be wonderful  for eyes – helping the muscles around the eyes to be far less wrinkled and lined. But there are dangers also.
